Peer Recovery Specialists in Orange County Make Multiple Community Appearances

On June 9th, the Pacific Clinics/Recovery Education Institute (REI) sponsored a peer workforce training event in Orange County, CA. It was attended by 83 participants and offered 12 Workshops and 10 vendor resource tables, including Telecare Corporation. Some of the workshops included Aimee Dunkle of Solace Foundation presenting “Fentanyl & Narcan Training” and “Wellness Through Technology” by Min Suh of Orange County Health Care Agency.

Working the resource fair and representing Telecare’s Orange County programs were Lori Fischer and Lei Portugal Calloway from Orange County AOT, who are both Medi-Cal California Certified Peers. Also pictured below are Orange County Health Care Agency representatives, Pacific Clinics/Recovery Education Institute employees, and Department of Rehabilitation and Wellness Center attendees.

Also present (but not shown) was Dean Riley from STEPS/AI Court, who supported some members with participating.

Tour de Recovery II raised $70,615.24 during its second 500-mile bike ride to raise money to support mental health and substance use disorder recovery.

On the way to the finish line, a stop was made at Fountain Valley’s Mile Square Park. Included as a vendor this year at the resource fair was Telecare Corporation, represented by Telecare’s husband and wife team, Lei Portugal Calloway from Orange County AOT and David Calloway from STEPS/AI Court, along with Orange County Health Care Agency, Be Well OC, and Project Kinship just to name a few community partners.
