TAO Central: Helping Homeless Individuals Get Housed – and Succeed

In February 2018, TAO Central program in Anaheim, CA, helped move more than 700 individuals experiencing homelessness out of the Santa Ana Riverside encampment in Orange County, CA. They provided clinical assessments and helped move belongings into temporary housing. The goal was to rehabilitate those who agreed to help and move them into safer settings and permanent homes. Affordable housing, however, is often extremely hard to come by in the area.

Over the past two years, the staff has been working diligently with members to find places of their own to call home. At the same time, they’re helping them manage their mental illnesses and move the program itself into a permanent home of its own.

A breakthrough, however, finally came in the midst of the pandemic. A new affordable housing option opened this summer – the Santa Ana Arts Collective. This new, modern building is now home to 15 individuals thanks to TAO Central’s continuous efforts.
