LAOA Team Members Participated in NAMI Walk LA

On May 21, 2022, a group of Los Angeles Older Adults (LAOA) team members, along with some family members, participated in the 2022 National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Walk LA. Those who participated enjoyed a beautiful day during their walk.

NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI works to raise awareness and provide support and education previously inaccessible to many people. NAMI Walks is their signature 5k fundraising walk, taking place in cities all over the country to raise money for local affiliates. Telecare is proud to support such an important organization that aims to help people get access to care and reduce the stigma around mental health.

Mental illness can affect anyone, regardless of age, race, or economic status. It is estimated that 1 in 5 people in the United States lives with a mental illness, which is about 43.8 million people. And yet, mental illness is often stigmatized. This is why NAMI's work of helping people get access to care, reduce stigma, and find community is so essential.

We are incredibly proud of the members at LAOA who took part! It's amazing to see your dedication to supporting mental health in your community.
